General Care
The foundation of our practice is quality general care for adults and children. Early detection, conservative treatment, prevention and good home care can preserve teeth for a lifetime. Your teeth are skillfully cleaned to maintain periodontal health and you are guided through an individually tailored program for your home dental care. During your checkup visit we will update your medical history, perform an oral cancer screening examination, check your teeth for cavities, review oral hygiene instructions, and monitor your periodontal (gum) condition. Fluoride treatments are provided for children under the age of sixteen and those adults when appropriate. General care also includes fillings, crowns, dentures, partials, root canals, and sealants performed by the dentist when necessary.
Reconstructive Treatment
These cases may involve multiple teeth or the entire mouth. Often these teeth have an unsightly appearance and are broken down or weakened by decay or defective large fillings. Sometimes multiple teeth may be missing or hopeless requiring removal. Careful reconstruction returns a mouth to normal function and a pleasant appearance. Often this can be done with fixed crowns, bridges, or implants so that you feel like you have your own teeth again. Healthy function and a natural appearance gives you the confidence to eat and speak in public again.
Crowns
A cap or crown will restore a broken, heavily-filled or cracked tooth to its original size and shape. This may also be recommended after root canal therapy has been completed as the tooth tends to become brittle and is more apt to fracture. Crowns can strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure while improving the appearance of your teeth.
Bridges
A non-removable bridge can restore your teeth to normal function by replacing missing teeth. It will improve the entire health of your mouth by keeping the surrounding teeth in position and can also help maintain the structure of your face and jaw.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental work now can and should be undetectable. Teeth can be totally reshaped and or replaced with today’s modern techniques. Teeth that are unsightly and unattractive can become stunningly beautiful. Tooth-colored fillings, veneers, crowns and teeth whitening are some of the techniques used in our office.
Implants
Dental implants are artificial replacements for missing teeth roots. They are placed in the jaw to act as a foundation to secure crowns, bridges, or dentures. Many patients who have had removable teeth for years are dramatically helped by dental implants.
Oral Surgery
Many types of oral surgery are done in our facility:
- Simple and advanced tooth removal including impacted wisdom teeth
- Periodontal (gum) surgery
- Endodontic (root)surgery
- Excisional biopsy
Most surgeries can be done in our office with anxiety-relieving techniques.
Root Canal Therapy
If a tooth’s pulp (nerve and blood supply) becomes infected or inflamed, root canal treatment may be the only way to save the tooth, This consists of removing the damaged tissue that lies within the root of the tooth and sealing the root end so no disease can reinfect the jawbone.
Sealants
Highly effective in preventing early decay on the biting surfaces of your chewing teeth, sealants in the form of tooth-colored acrylic “coating” is painted onto the surface of the tooth after the grooves have been thoroughly cleaned. This effectively “seals” the deep grooves where decay is most likely to start.
Dentures
Dentures are removable teeth replacements. Denture construction is becoming a lost art. Careful attention to detail can make a big difference for the person who has dentures. Many people believe once they have dentures, they no longer need regular dental care. Denture wearers require regular exams to ensure their health, comfort and appearance. Gum tissues are in a constant state of change. Periodic relining of the dentures may be necessary to ensure a stable comfortable fit.
Athletic Mouthguards
Store bought over the counter mouthguards do not fit well nor do they provide the protection to help prevent sports injuries. The only mouthguard that should be worn is that made from a model of the mouth. Patients have individual requirements for fit, comfort, level of competition, and compliance. The professionally designed custom made mouthguard satisfies these requirements.
IntraOral Imaging
With the aid of flat panel computer screens in the treatment rooms, we are able to take you on a close-up tour of your mouth. Reduced radiation digital x-rays appear instantly and greatly enlarged on the monitor along with detailed and magnified color photos of your teeth and gums. An intraoral camera about the size of a pen is used to take pictures of your teeth. Any problems such as cracked teeth, defective fillings and crowns, or gum disease can be easily viewed by you and the dentist. If needed, we can consult with other dentists anywhere in the world.
